Kárate - 595

595 is a live album by Karate, released on Southern Records on October 8, 2007. The album is so named because this is a recording of their 595th live show. All told, 695 shows were performed over the band's 12 year career. In 2007, the former band members of Karate decided to release a live album. Often, Karate was sent live material from their own performances, usually from sound technicians. This happened also after their performance on May 5, 2003 at Stuk, Leuven, Belgium, while touring to support Some Boots. Karate was so astonished by the quality of the recording they decided to release this 'posthumous' live album. The two longest tracks on the album feature lengthy solos from guitarist Geoff Farina. The solos on "In Hundreds" stand out from Farina's other recorded solos due to the extensive usage of jazz tunings. The solo on "Caffeine or Me?", which takes up slightly more than a third of the track's length, is mostly built upon feedback.

Mogwai - Mr Beast

The album Mr. Beast was released on March 6, 2006 in the UK and March 7, 2006 in the United States, in double LP vinyl format, a regular CD jewel case edition and limited deluxe edition package that comes with both the album on CD and a DVD documenting the recording process entitled The Recording of Mr. Beast. The album has been described by Creation Records head Alan McGee as “...probably the best art rock album I've been involved with since Loveless. In fact, it's possibly better than Loveless.” referring to the influential 1991 album by My Bloody Valentine. Drummer Martin Bulloch describes it as “...the best record we've made since Mogwai Young Team.” The album's title stemmed from an incident where Barry Burns and Dominic Aitchison landed in Florida to start a tour with The Cure in 2005, when they saw a taxi driver standing outside the airport holding a sign that said "Mr. and Mrs. Beast" which, after a 10-hour flight, was "funnier than life itself".

The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of us is the killer

One of Us Is the Killer has been met with critical acclaim. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 84, based on 7 reviews. Gregory Heaney of Allmusic, giving the album 4 out of 5 stars, commented on the album's accessibility (without the band leaving their signature sound), saying "This shift toward playing to the listener's gut rather than head gives the Dillinger Escape Plan a newfound level of accessibility without diminishing the impact of their punishing sound, and though it might seem like they're smoothing out the edges of their sound and turning their swords into plowshares, the reality is that they've just turned it into a different kind of weapon.", while Jacob Royal of Sputnikmusic gave the album a rating of 4.1 out of 5, stating "One Of Us Is the Killer is easily the most sprawling piece of work The Dillinger Escape Plan has created yet."
